Getting Started
How do I connect my Discogs account?
Open the app and tap "Connect to Discogs." You'll be taken to the Discogs website to sign in and authorize the app. Once authorized, your collection will sync to your device.
Do I need a Discogs account?
Yes. Both VinylCheck and VinylRec require a Discogs account with a collection. You can create a free account at discogs.com.
VinylCheck
How do I scan a barcode?
Go to the Scan tab and point your camera at the barcode on a record. VinylCheck will look it up on Discogs and show you whether it's in your collection, on your wantlist, or new to you.
Can I use VinylCheck without an internet connection?
Your collection syncs locally, so you can check ownership status offline. However, searching Discogs and scanning barcodes require an internet connection.
VinylRec
How are recommendations generated?
VinylRec uses a weighted random selection that favors albums you haven't played recently. You can filter by format, genre, folder, or mood to narrow your picks.
What does starring a record do?
Starred albums are added to your Favorites list. You can choose to get recommendations from only your favorites if you want.
Troubleshooting
My collection isn't syncing.
Make sure you have an internet connection. Try signing out in Settings and signing back in. If the problem persists, contact us at the email above.
The app isn't recognizing a barcode.
Not all records have barcodes in the Discogs database. Try searching manually by artist or album name instead.
