The Developer

VinylCheck and VinylRec were created by Will Chatham, a cyber security director, musician (Shadow Person), and vinyl collector.

VinylCheck started as a personal tool to quickly check "do I already own this?" while digging through crates at the record store. VinylRec came from wanting a better way to decide what to spin from a growing collection.

VinylCheck connects to Discogs, the largest online music database and marketplace, to let you instantly verify whether a record is already in your collection. No more duplicate purchases, no more guessing.

This app is for collectors who already have their stuff in Discogs but want a quick, easy way to see if they already own something. You can add and remove things from your wantlist. But that's it! It is not designed to manage your collection as there are plenty of apps for that (including Discogs itself).

VinylRec helps you decide what to play next from your vinyl collection. It syncs your Discogs collection and gives you smart recommendations based on what you haven't played recently.

Filter by format, genre, or folder. Star your favorites. Track what you've played. The app learns from your listening habits to serve up fresh picks and help you break out of listening ruts.
